The best lesson that I was ever a part of as a student was my president project in the fourth grade. My teacher assigned all of us to pick a president of our choice that we would be learning about and teaching to the rest of the class. I chose Jimmy Carter, mainly because we have family connections to him but also because I had the glorious idea to revolve my project around a giant peanut (he lived and worked on a peanut farm)

Not only do I think this was an effective project because it taught presenting skills, but also research skills with a side of creativity. The world was our oyster when it came to how we wanted our projects to look and I truly think that kind of freedom made it all the more fun. As long as we had valuable information on the president's life inside and outside of politics, we did the project correctly.
